INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING

June 26th, the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, was observed at our
school. This day serves as a remainder of the goals agreed upon by the member
states for creating an international society free of drug abuse.

Drug and alcohol abuse are serious problems that affect children of school-going
age much more than in the past. In order to make each student aware of its ill-
effects, our Amrita Vidyalayam organised a mass assembly. After prayers, the
school took an oath to stay away from drugs and alcohol. It was heartening to see
that each and every student joined hands in taking the oath and imbibing its
spirit.
