FITNESS WEEK CELEBRATION 2019

Fitness Week encouraged the school to promote the importance of physical activity and staying fit among the students, with the objective to educate them about physical, mental and social health. Amrita Vidyalayam Kodungallur celebrated Fitness Week from November 13th to 19th as part of Prime Minster Sri Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement.

During the week-long celebrations, children learned lessons in fitness, hygiene and the importance of healthy habits. Each day of the week was dedicated to fitness related activities.

Day 1 (13/11/2019) – The first day started with a morning yoga session for all in the assembly. Children were encouraged to practice yoga daily. An exhibition of nutritious foods was conducted to educate students about the importance of a healthy diet.

Day 2 (14/11/2019) – The second day was dedicated to fitness and began with free hand exercise sessions during assembly. A speech on fitness was given by School Leader Sarath N.S. to the students in their classrooms.

Day 3 (15/11/2019) – On the third day, a poster making competition was held for students of classes V to VII on the topic “Fit Body, Fit Mind, Fit Environment”.

Day 4 (16/11/2019) – Day 4 focussed on a Karate camp for students from classes V to IX, and teachers practiced yoga.

Day 5 (18/11/2019) – A quiz competition on “Fitness and Health” was conducted under the supervision of Science teachers.

Day 6 (19/11/2019) – The students reiterated the lessons learnt during Fitness Week. The celebration concluded with competitions for students from KG to Class IV in various games such as spoon race, running race, etc.
