READING WEEK 2024

Reading Week commenced with an inauguration ceremony on June 19, 2024. A mobile library on Puranic books was arranged, and our alumni donated the books to the library. The students did book reviews in the class.

Day 2

The Ramayana and the Mahabharata are among the most famous epics of all time. To honour these great works, Grade IX students provided a brief overview of the epics for the students of Classes 1 and 2, conducted a quiz, and motivated the winners by distributing prizes. All the students participated with enthusiasm and were eager to learn something new. The quiz aimed to test their knowledge and increase their awareness of these epics.

Day 3

To inculcate reading habits in students, Agneya from 4th grade delivered a speech honouring P.N. Panicker, the father of the library movement. Students from grades 1 and 2 showcased quotes from famous legends. This initiative aims to inspire and encourage a love for reading among young learners. The Hindi and Malayalam departments were in charge of organizing the event.

Day 4

Students of Class VII staged a one-act play titled “Three Questions” by Leo Tolstoy. This initiative was an excellent way to creatively engage students with literature and nurture a love for reading. Tolstoy’s story is both captivating and rich in themes, providing a foundation for meaningful discussions. Activities like this are essential in helping students appreciate literature beyond just reading, allowing them to embody characters and themes through performance. The play was part of a celebration for Reading Day, aiming to encourage participants to interact with literature in a creative manner and develop a passion for reading.

Day 5

Stories have a powerful way of engaging readers and conveying messages in a memorable and impactful manner“. Anandalakshmi K.S., a Class VII student, is including a value-based short story in her e-book. By sharing such a story, she can effectively spread the ‘Keep Reading‘ message and encourage others to discover the joy and benefits of reading.

Day 6

A former student, Aparna Ajay, generously donated books to the school library to foster a love for reading among children. The books carried the potential to ignite imaginations, broaden horizons, and empower young minds with knowledge.

Day 7

In connection with Reading Week Celebration, a quiz competition related to literature was organized. Students from classes 3 and 4 participated in the quiz, representing their respective houses. They showcased their brilliance by answering questions rapidly. Chinmayi house secured the 1st position, followed by Amritamayi house in 2nd place. The students displayed an ecstatic spirit and enjoyed the quiz to the fullest.

As part of the observance of Reading Week, the students of Grade 7 performed a beautiful dance based on the Malayalam poem ‘Pookkathirikkaan Enikkavathille‘ by the renowned poet Ayyappa Paniker.
